Shelby started at Exceptional Senior Living in July 2017 as a nurse aide in the memory care neighborhood. In January 2018, she transferred to the activities department. "Joining the activities team has been a goal of mine. With a background in occupational therapy, working as an activities assistant is a natural fit for my skills. I enjoy planning activities that the residents enjoy," said Shelby.
Shelby completed a degree in occupational therapy at Brown Mackie College as an occupational therapy assistant and has worked in a variety of positions that has enhanced her skills since graduating. During her internship, she discovered that she enjoyed working with seniors.
"Before joining Exceptional Senior Living, I worked as a caregiver for one of our residents and decided to apply as a nurse aide to this community. For several months, I enjoyed working with our memory care residents in planning activities and knew I would enjoy working in a position focused on activities for the center. As a new senior living community in Prospect, Exceptional Senior Living is not only beautiful, but it is also a great place to work. I would even like to live here myself in our beautiful apartments!" commented Shelby.
